About:

An artist and author from Aotearoa New Zealand, working across digital and traditional mediums including watercolour, pencil, and mixed media. My work is known for its emotional depth and immersive world-building.

I am shaped by Aotearoa’s unique humour, culture, landscape, and its remote position in the world, which has resulted in lifelong exposure to international storytelling and media. This combination gives my work a globally resonant perspective and a distinct creative voice.

Industry Feedback

"In Sad Sushi Anna Aldridge's artwork has a deftness of touch, marrying delicacy, and beauty with endearing character design, and striking the exact tone required to deliver the serious subject matter." - Matt Tait, 2025 NZBCYA Judge

"Sad Sushi is a powerful yet accessible exploration of the experience of depression, with illustrations that convey complicated emotions and mood shifts in a way that young readers might otherwise struggle to identify or understand. Complex, dreamy and at times almost ukiyo-e-like in its composition, this is a beautifully crafted picture book." - New Zealand Children's Book Awards
